WHAT TO EXPECT AT A MEETING

PART I
Speeches & Evaluations

INTERLUDE
Break & Formal Toast

PART II
Table Topics Competition
As you arrive, you’ll be welcomed in the lobby by a greeter who will introduce you during the meeting. Before we begin, please feel free to walk around and chat with members and other guests. Don’t be shy — we’re excited to get to know you and learn what brought you here!
When the meeting starts, you can expect a highly structured and punctual meeting guided by the agenda. The Toastmaster of the evening runs the meeting with support from the Sergeant at Arms and volunteers, and each person with a role will briefly explain its purpose. Following introductions, a humorist sets the tone with a light-hearted story. Next, we will have four prepared speeches, each followed by four evaluators.
At this point, there will be a short intermission where refreshments are served, and you will get a second chance to network.
After the break, the Toastmaster will raise a toast, celebrating the theme of the evening. Nothing will prepare you for the next part, literally. The table topics portion of the meeting will entertain and awe you as members give impromptu speeches on the spot. As the evening comes to an end, there will be an after-meeting gathering at a restaurant close by to socialize and network. You are, of course, welcome to attend.
